Brendan has been a driving force behind the significant growth and success of Woodruff-Sawyer’s Southern California operation. He oversees the regions Corporate & Executive Protection (“CorpEx”) Practice as well as its business development initiatives. Brendan is one of the world’s foremost experts on executive liability and risk management – specifically directors & officers (D&O) liability insurance and mergers & acquisitions (M&A) insurance products. He has authored several articles on D&O liability and M&A-related products and has structured financial risk solutions for hundreds of companies.  Brendan is often referred into companies either preparing to go public (IPO) or existing public companies going through their D&O insurance renewal. He currently serves a multitude of pre-IPO and public clients spanning multiple industries – including high tech, life science, health care, retail and manufacturing.

Brendan began his career as a D&O underwriter at Chubb and worked for seven years in the insurance company’s executive protection department. In 1996, Brendan joined Sedgwick James, at the time the world’s third largest insurance broker, to head its D&O operation for the Western Region.  In this capacity, Brendan was responsible for the ultimate negotiation and D&O placement for clients throughout California and Arizona. Brendan also served as Sedgwick’s National D&O and IPO product line specialist. Subsequent to the Marsh acquisition of Sedgwick, Brendan assumed a multi-faceted role as a D&O broker, business development professional and M&A product specialist.

Prior to joining Woodruff-Sawyer in 2005, Brendan was a senior vice president and director at Worldwide Facilities, where he served as the D&O and IPO practice leader for company offices throughout North America.

Brendan graduated from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo with a bachelor’s degree in business administration/finance.
